Rae- Rae is the central central character of the story. In Gifted Touch, she starts hearing thoughts in her head that aren't hers and it causes her to have a breakdown in the middle of the cafeteria, sending her to the mental hospital. After she gets out, she realizes that's she has lost most of her pre-breakdown perfect world. Her boyfriend, Marcus, moved onto another girl. Her best friend Lea, is scared of her. Everybody else either treats her uber nice like she'll break down if they don't, or like she has a contagious disease. To top it all off, an attempt is made on her life. She gives a name of a person she saw before the bomb, Anthony. But, she soon finds out it wasn't Anthony, and in her effort to get him out, he helps her discover her gift. Her gift to touch fingerprints and know the thoughts left behind.

Anthony-Anthony helps Rae discover her powers and helps a lot in trying to find the murderer. Anthony has a lot of younger siblings, and is practically their parent, because his mom and stepfather hardly pay attention. He has a reading disorder and doesn't know it, making him assume he's just stupid, and not good enough for Rae, since she goes to a prep school.

Yana-Yana meets Rae in the mental hospital, and they do the number, address exchange. On Rae's first day, Yana shows up with donuts and gives her a ride to school. Yana becomes Rae's best friend, since Rae's old friend, Lea, dithces her after the mental breakdown.

Jesse-Jesse is another kid in Rae's "therapy group" and treats Anthony like his older brother. Jesse convinces Rae to help get Anthony out of Juvie. In Haunted, Jesse is kidnapped and later on in the series, when Rae feels abandoned by both Yana and Anthony, Jesse is the person she relies on.
